Sometimes your favorite projects are for companies your friends own. Enter: the Montreal-based energy infusion, mate libre. Inside the bottle is an organic fizzy yerba mate drink, lightly sweetened, ethically sourced, and ready to give you a steady-yet-calmed natural buzz. Outside of the bottle is a storied journey of globalization — from yerba mate’s prized role in South American culture, to the dancefloors of Berlin where locals sip Club Mate (first soda version to hit mass markets), to the Canadian apartment where a guilt-free carbonated version was brewed. All that considered, the brand needed an identity of its very own. Exciting to see how mate libre has evolved, dipped into the boozy RTD space, partnered with artists, and maintained product integrity while producing at large.
